We know students spend most of their time in classroom settings, therefore, it’s important that teachers establish a supportive learning environment. Creating a matrix to directly teach classroom routines in alignment with school-wide expectations gives students a blueprint for success.
Learning Intentions
- Understand the importance of creating and teaching procedures and routines in behavior and academics.
Rationale
“To build and foster positive relationships, teachers should establish age appropriate and culturally responsive expectations, routines, and procedures within their classrooms that are positively stated and explicitly taught and practiced across the school year. When students demonstrate mastery and follow established rules and routines, teachers should provide age-appropriate specific performance feedback in meaningful and caring ways.” HLP #7Presentation(s)
